Welcome to the Lebanese National Network Official Webpage

The 2008 Lebanese National Culture Tournament

July 7 th, 2008

Dear SciLeb Junior Members,

In the past couple of years, you have participated in the Lebanese National Network Leadership Summer Camps, and I was very pleased to monitor your progress with both extreme pride and satisfaction.

Once again, I am pleased to invite you to yet another Leadership training event. However, this time, you will participate in a Workshop-type project where you will have a higher active organizational and executive role.

As participants in the 2008 Leadership Workshop, you are requested to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Participate in sessions covering two of six proposed topics, one of your choice, and one chosen by SciLeb
  • Prepare a poster on each of your topics to display during the camp
  • Present a 15 minutes individual talk on each of the two topics
  • Participate in the plenary session where discussion results will be shared with all the group as well as the new SciLeb Junior Members
  • Prepare and plan for a project proposed by SciLeb during the meeting

The topic selection is:

  • Basic Education and Ethical Values (Respect, Civil Engagement, Social Ties and National Identity, Political Involvement in Social and Educational Reforms)
  • Art and Quality of Life (Create a Different Perspective, Amount of Local Interest in Art, Culture as a Defining Foundation of Society, Future Applications)
  • Rule of Law and Good Governance (Legal and Judicial System Definitions, Reform Tasks)
  • Media and Mass Communication (Media Role in Social Guidance, Control vs Communication, Political Influence and Access to Media)
  • Sciences and Medical Effort (National Level, Improvement Efforts, Major Points of Strength and Weakness, Academic Involvement)
  • Management and Political Leadership (New Business Ideas in the Middle East, Future Forecast, Projected Role of Different Social Classes in Future Reconstruction)

You may chose one topic of the above mentioned list, and send an email to info@lnnonline.org, or call one of the SciLeb representatives to state your selection ASAP. Then, SciLeb will select the second topic for you.

Following this, you will work with fellow members in the same topic groups, on your talk (Individually - 15 minutes power-point) and poster (by group - click here to download the template). You are expected to prepare a presentation on each of the two topics you chose on your own, and a poster with the whole group. Your talk can be a stand-alone effort, or can merge in a larger talk with the rest of the group.

You are kindly requested to print your poster, and carry it with you to the camp on your first day. Please feel free to send us a copy of your poster before you print it for final corrections. You must also send your talk to info@lnnonline.org no later than July 25 th 2008. In addition to this, you must email a two-slide summary power-point file on the main points in your presentation to be included in the general introduction talk at the beginning of the presentation day. You will receive more information on the workshop time and venue at a later stage by phone and online, so kindly keep checking the LNN webpage for updates.

Congratulations again, on yet another fruitful year, and I hope to see you all at the workshop.

Sincerely,

Antoun Georges Daou
