High resolution spectropolarimetry of the classical T Tauri star T Tau is presented. The star was observed in McDonald observatory in southeast Texas. Analyzing multiple photospheric lines (Figure 1), we could find an average value of 12 G for the mean longitudinal magnetic field on the surface of the star. For verification, longitudinal magnetic fields for the asteroid Vesta (Sun) and the magnetic Ap star 53 cam were also calculated and agree well with previously published results. |
